Each month, our editorial team selects one standout wedding to spotlight — a day that truly shines for its creativity, personality, and unforgettable details.

This month, we’re thrilled to feature Priya and Shemar’s beautiful Miami wedding. The couple celebrated their wedding on February 28, 2026, and their celebration was nothing short of a wow from start to finish.

A Day of Celebration, Culture, Family & New Traditions

Some love stories begin with a grand first impression. Priya and Shemar’s began a little more quietly, on a bus ride home during their first week at Florida State University College of Medicine in the summer of 2019.

They struck up a conversation during the ride, but Priya eventually fell asleep, leaving Shemar less than impressed. It would be another six months before they really talked again. This time, it was at a Halloween party, where Shemar’s newly grown beard caught Priya’s attention and the two ended up talking the night away.

A month later, they officially started dating. Years later, that first conversation became the beginning of a life together, culminating in a Miami Beach wedding weekend that was deeply personal, culturally rich, and centered around the people who helped shape them.

For Priya and Shemar, their wedding celebration was about so much more than a beautiful setting. Coming from families rooted in Bengal and Jamaica, their wedding weekend became a reflection of their shared history, their families, and the traditions they hope to carry forward together.

And this was certainly more than a one day celebration. The weekend unfolded with a rehearsal dinner at the Mondrian, a vibrant Haldi ceremony, and a gorgeous wedding ceremony and reception at The Palms Hotel. Each event brought its own atmosphere, traditions, and, of course, a whole new look.

From one celebration to the next, Priya and Shemar embraced every opportunity to change it up, and we are absolutely here for every outfit. Each look felt even better than the last, making their wedding weekend just as much a fashion moment as it was a celebration of family, culture, and love.

Miami Beach felt like a natural place for Priya and Shemar to begin this next chapter. Its tropical landscape and warm climate offered a familiar connection to the ancestral homes of their families, creating a meaningful backdrop for a wedding that brought together two cultures and two family histories.

Throughout the weekend, Bengali Hindu traditions met Caribbean influences through music, food, and celebration. Rather than choosing between the cultures that shaped them, Priya and Shemar created a wedding that made room for all of them.

Their celebration became an expression of what it means to build a new family while honoring the families and traditions that came before.

Behind the celebration was Events by Carmen, whose thoughtful planning helped bring all of these different pieces together.

As Priya and Shemar’s wedding planner, Carmen played a major role in creating a celebration that felt cohesive while still allowing each cultural influence to have its own place. From the overall design to the smaller guest experiences, every element worked together to tell the couple’s story.

The relationship between Carmen and the couple began through their photographer, Jessica Vilchez. Jessica was the first vendor Priya and Shemar booked and introduced them to Carmen, setting the stage for a vendor team that would become an important part of their wedding journey.

For Priya and Shemar, choosing a favorite vendor was nearly impossible. They credit both Carmen and Jessica with helping transform their ideas into a celebration that felt authentic to them.

Details That Made the Celebration Their Own

The details throughout each wedding activity this weekend brought so much personality.

MPE Event Group helped bring the couple’s vision to life through their custom signage, adding thoughtful design moments throughout the celebration.

Contempo Linens & Event Rentals provided gorgeous linens seen throughout as well as the gorgeous napkins and chairs.

Lighting from Infinity Sound Production helped shape the atmosphere as the day transitioned into an evening celebration, creating an inviting setting for guests to gather, dine, and dance.

Guests also had the chance to step into the The Monochromatic Experience photo booth, giving everyone a fun way to capture memories throughout the celebration. The interactive experience added another layer of entertainment while giving guests something tangible to take home from the weekend.

And when it was time for a little pick me up, Aroma Espresso brought the coffee cart experience to the celebration. The late night coffee stop was the perfect addition for guests ready to keep the party going.

Priya and Shemar’s wedding is a beautiful reminder that the most memorable celebrations are often the ones that feel deeply personal.

Their Miami Beach wedding brought together Bengali Hindu traditions, Caribbean influences, family history, and modern Miami style in a celebration that was entirely their own. Every choice came back to the same idea: honoring who they are, where they come from, and the life they are creating together.
